Pikaia Lodge's highly evolved land-based concept is a positive model for the long-term preservation of the unique Galapagos Islands and the local economy. High on the list of priorities is protecting the delicate ecosystem and the local people, including a reforesting initiative that was started when the lodge's grounds were acquired. To date, over 11,000 trees have been planted. Approximately 3⁄4 of the lodge’s main building is fitted with 2 different types of panels, solar photovoltaic and collector panels. The photovoltaic panels convert thermal energy into electricity and the collector panels collect rain water for filtering. 95% of hotel staff are from the nearby village, which have all being trained by hospitality professionals to the highest standards. Additionally, Pikaia Lodge is a proud member of the Pack for a Purpose initiative, where guests are encouraged to spare space in their luggage to bring school supplies for the local village school. Pikaia does not own any vehicles. All transport services are carried out by a trusted local company.

Insider tips

All-Inclusive adventure programme package includes access to the lodge's private yacht offering a perfect combination of land and marine excursions, providing flexibility beyond typical Galapagos tours.
By being land based, guests embark on full day island explorations, then return to the safety of land, as well as a luxurious and spacious lodge.
Pikaia Lodge is one of the most advanced green lodges built in the world. It operates with alternative energy resources and has a comprehensive social responsibility programme.

Words don’t do it justice. The staff are outstanding. Some of the most well trained, genuine, professional people I have ever encountered. Food has been great and amazing presentations. Our guide Xavier was simply incredible. Funny, knowledgeable and has all the qualities I look for in a guide. A good teacher and a good storyteller. Extremely engaging. Love the lodge. The setting. The climate. The ambience. And we lucked out with a lovely group of guests too. I can’t wait to sell it to the next person I can convince to come to the Enchanted Islands!

I wanted to write and say thank you for hosting me and for the most magical stay at Pikaia Lodge recently. I cannot thank you both enough for such an extraordinary experience. Every detail felt thoughtful and seamless, and your warmth and genuine hospitality made it truly unforgettable. The hotel, the yacht, and the experiences were amazing, just as expected. But it's truly the staff, both at the hotel and on the yacht, and Mario in particular, who make this place so special. Kudos to all of them for welcoming us with a smile at breakfast and dinner, for greeting us after excursions with a cold towel and a drink, and for being so proud and happy to work and showcase the best of this incredible location. It was a privilege to experience the Galápagos through your care and expertise. I am so grateful for the memories created, and I know my clients will be in good hands when they visit. I look forward to sharing Pikaia with many future clients, and to returning again soon. Let me know if you'd like it trimmed further or the personal closing line (about returning with her husband) kept in, I left that part out as it read a little more private for a public-facing quote.

What we loved most about Pikaia was how genuinely cared for we felt from the moment we arrived. Everyone took the time to learn our names and preferences, and the warmth of the team made it feel as though they truly enjoyed taking care of their guests. The airport arrival was such a thoughtful touch, with logistics like the entrance fee and TCT taken care of, making the start of the trip completely seamless. Our room was another highlight, generously sized with high ceilings, an expansive balcony, and a beautiful bathroom with a bathtub overlooking the surroundings. We also loved the thoughtful details, like the backpack and water bottle we could personalize. After a day of exhilarating excursions, we always looked forward to returning to the lodge for a refreshing drink, with guides, drivers and the lodge team all perfectly in sync. The arrival briefing prepared us for everything ahead, including a fair warning about the Galápagos sun. Our guides were wonderful, Mario informative, witty and kind, and Stefan fantastic on the yacht, and the little touches, from the clean mountain air to the signature cocktails, made our journey unforgettable. Pikaia made our Galápagos experience feel effortless, personal and incredibly special. I trimmed the sunburn/aloe vera anecdote and the Valentine's Day cocktail hour mention since they're a bit specific to that trip, let me know if you'd like either folded back in.
