Morukuru Family De Hoop operates 100% off-grid, using solar power. Through Morukuru Goodwill Foundation we have been supporting the reserve since 2010, as well as sponsoring the Turtle Conservation Centre at the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town and the Landmark Foundation for their leopard research project in De Hoop Nature Reserve. At the same time we assist Cape Nature in removing alien invasive species (Rooikrans). We also encourage guests to be part of conservation by booking the optional 'Coastal Conservation with a Purpose' package.

De Hoop Nature Reserve offers some of the best land-based whale watching (July - October) anywhere in Africa.

Morukuru Beach Lodge offers very spacious and comfortable suites with amazing ocean views, ideal for couples and small families with one or two children.

Morukuru Ocean House is ideal for (multi-generational) families and groups of friends, welcoming children of all ages and offering complete privacy and exclusivity.

Location Details

Access via road transfer or selfdrive, 3 hours from Cape Town, or via private charter flights that can land at the De Hoop Airstrip, 25 minutes from the property.

There is also a helipad at Morukuru Ocean House.

Driving time from Cape Town or Knysna is approximately 3,5 hours.

From Bredasdorp or Swellendam guests will be driving on gravel roads.

A 2WD SUV with higher ground clearance is recommended for added comfort, but not required.
