Basecamp Wilderness is a founding member of Naboisho Conservancy, a community-owned wildlife area. More than 80% of staff come from the local community. Tourism directly supports conservation through daily fees, improving livelihoods for over 500 families. The camp harvests rain water, composts kitchen waste, generates electricity mostly via solar panels, recycles 96% of general waste, uses biodegradable detergents, sources supplies locally, and partners with Seedballs Kenya for reforestation efforts. Guests are encouraged to participate in seedball reforestation during game drives.
